The views from Camusblathan are breathtaking. The house overlooks the sea - the Sound of Sleat, to the Garden of Skye. From the house you can see the haunting jagged peaks of the Cuillins and Isle Ornsay lighthouse. To the north towards the Kyles of Lochalsh you can see the lighthouse of Gavin Maxwell’s Ring of Bright Water and to the south the mysterious silhouettes of the Islands of Eigg, Rum and Muck.

Activities

Walking

There are lovely walks as soon as you step outside the door. If you feel a bit more active then further afield there are several woodland walks and three munroes to climb. You can buy a map from the Knoydart Foundation in Inverie and plan your own adventure. Alternatively, you can hire a Ranger for a guided walk. The Knoydart Rangers, guide tailor-made trips (cost depending on requirements), as well as scheduled walks (costing between £5-10).

Beachcombing

There are miles of seashore to walk along and explore.  Shells and pebbles to collect whilst you paddle in the crystal clear blue green water. If you like to meander along a secluded beach with only the seals to keep you company, this is the place for you. No crowds or queues of traffic, just the sounds of nature and the freshest air you can breathe.  Your very own paradise.

Boat Trips

Calanna is Knoydart's local charter boat based in Inverie. Fully licensed and insured for 12 passengers. She is a Lochin 33, (the same hull as used by the RNLI for their Brede class Lifeboat). Comfortable and sea kindly, fast or slow with a large, safe deck. Calanna is named after Calum and Anna, her skipper Iain Wilson's two children. Iain, who lives on Knoydart and farms at Inverguserain, has been sailing round Knoydart and the Small Isles for over 30 years dropping off hill walkers, whale and shark watching, picnicking, fishing, photographing wildlife, or just enjoying the craic on a wee sail up the loch. In 2023 Wilder Ways return with their trail riding holidays and day and half day trecks. Horseback is a fabulous way to explore the scenery with taylored rides and adventures to all abilities. 

Relaxing

One of the main reasons to visit Camusblathan is to relax and unwind. A lot of holiday homes can use a little bit of artistic license when it comes to the photographs they share. The wonderful views and vistas don't seem to be there when you arrive and it's not quite as 'away from it' all as you were expecting. Camusblathan is all you would hope for. That really is the house from the beach in the photograph on our home page and they really are the views from the terrace and the seals on the islands just off-shore. Let the world pass you by, breathe a slow sigh of relief and relax and just be.......

Flora

There is an abundance of flora and fauna to marvel at. Most commonly; primroses, bluebells, hair-bells, orchids, butter-wart, yellow flag-iris, marsh marigolds, thrift and other wonderful wild flowers.

Wildlife

There are seals in Airor Bay, often basking on the rocks of Airor Island or Samadalan further along the shore. Otter, whales, dolphins, numerous common and rare sea birds, deer, feral goats, wildcats and pine-martens have all been seen by us or our guests. Golden eagles, peregrines and great northen divers have also been seen on Knoydart. Our guests have caught crab, lobster and mackerel. A friend has even Kayaked alongside a basking shark!!
